Itinerary

Day 1City tour in Yerevan

  • Pick up from the  Zvartnots International Airport  — check in
  • Participation in «Tufenkian Trans Caucasus» master class for production and sale of blankets.
  • Visit the History Museum of Armenia, which displays various samples of the Armenian history from Paleolithic to the present day.
  • Walking through the center — North Avenue, Opera, Cascade — visit to Cafesjian Center for the Arts.
  • Welcome dinner with national song and dance at «Yerevan Pandok» restaurant.
  • Walk from Yerevan Tavern to Republic Square to enjoy the show of singing and dancing fountains.

 

Day 2Yerevan-Dvin-Khor Virap-Areni-Noravank-Yeghegnadzor

  • Breakfast at the hotel- check out
  • Drive to  Dvin ancient site, which was one of the famous commercial cities of Armenia after Artashat. Dvin is now a multi-layered archaeological monument. It was crossed by the trade route that connected China, Central Asia and Iran to Byzantium.
  • Visit to Khor Virap Monastery, from where a wonderful view of biblical Ararat opens.
  • Visit to Areni — Lunch at «Vardges» cave restaurant. 
  • Drive to the Noravank monastery complex surrounded by mysterious red rocks, built during XIII-XIV centuries.
  • Stop at the Bird Cave, where the world’s oldest shoes and a 6,000-year-old winery were recently discovered.  Wine tasting in one of Areni wineries.
  • Check in — «Arpa Hotel» Overnight in Yeghegnadzor, here is located Sur Kamurj- the pointy bridge, which is a medieval structure on the Old Silk Road.

Day 3Yeghegnadzor -Tolors Reservoir - Karahunj - Goris

  • Breakfast at the hotel -check out.
  • Drive to Tolors Reservoir. Here, tourists  will have an opportunity to get acquainted with local traditions — Armenian pottery and carpet weaving, as well as to make clay souvenirs. 
  • Lunch in Sisian «Basen Hotel», dinner will be served with fish and other dishes.
  • Drive to Zorats stones, Karahunj, all the stones of which are made of basalt, with mysterious holes. The site was most likely an observatory. Some astronomers believe that the Zorats stones have a history of 6000-8000 years.
  • Our next stop will be the city of Goris, check-in at Mirhav Hotel. City tour will start from Old Goris. Visit to St. Gregory the Illuminator Church. 

Day 4 Goris - Khndzoresk - Tatev monastery

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit to Khndzoresk village, here we will walk through the Swinging bridge, which connects the two «banks» of  the Old and New Khndzoresk.
  • Lunch at the restaurant near the Tatev ropeway
  • Visit to Tatev monastery complex, which was founded in the 4th century and  listed as a UNESCO world heritage sight. We will sit on the Tatever record ropeway, and at the end, to make the tour brighter, we will walk around the village and see the daily life of the residents.
  • Return to the hotel

Day 5Goris - Selim - Noratus -Sevanavank

  • Breakfast at the hotel — check out.
  • Drive to Selim Caravanserai, located on Yeghegnadzor-Martuni highway.
  • Lunch at the Noratus, in the house of a villager.
  • Visit to Noratus Cemetery, Armenian medieval cemetery in the south-eastern part of Noratus village. Khachkars date back to the 10th-18th centuries. 
  • Arrival at Svanavank, located on the north-eastern shore of Lake Sevan.
  •  Check in — NOY LAND Resort  

 

Day 6Dilijan-Haghartsin-Goshavank-Haghpat

  • Breakfast at the hotel- check out.
  • Drive to Dilijan -city tour,
  • Visit to Haghartsin Monastery, which is considered to be one of the best examples of Armenian monasteries rich in engineering solutions and art.
  •  Visit to Goshavank, which was built around 12th-13th centuries. One of the prominent religious, educational and cultural centers.
  • Picnic on the bank of Tandzut river.
  • Visit to Haghpat
  • Check in B & B Flora 

Day 7Haghpat-Sanahin-Odzun-Stepanavan-Gyumri

  • Breakfast at B&B -Check out
  • Visit to Haghpat Monastery which is a large Armenian medieval monastery complex and then Sanahin Monastery.
  • Visit to goat farm (taste of goat cheese, honey, homemade vodka)
  • Visit to Odzun Church, which belongs to the type of domed basilica churches.
  • Drive to Stepanavan-Lori Fortress, Dendropark
  • Drive to Gyumri — check in

Day 8Gyumri-Aruch caravanserai-Yerevan

  • Breakfast at the hotel -Check out
  • City tour in Gyumri, which is the second largest city of Armenia. Here we will have an opportunity to visit three different museums and discover the 18th-19th century unique  architecture, cuisine and be part of the century-old traditions of pottery making and the magic of clay work.  
  • Visit one of most celebrated beer factories in Armenia, which is located in Gyumri.
  • Visit to the medieval caravanserai of Aruch in Aragatsotn region.
  • Return to Yerevan, check in- «Silk Road Hotel»

Day 9Yerevan - Zvartnots Airport

  • Breakfast at the hotel- check out.
  • Visit to Vernissage which is an open-air market where you can find handicrafts of Armenian artists, as well as other works of art.
  • Drive to Zvartnots International Airport
